I loved the story, it reads like an adventure (which it was!). You're a great storyteller, Paul! I was there with you all the way, I held my breath, I even want to learn Norwegian now haha.

By the way, I still send postcards and Christmas cards by post. I love this habit.

I love this story and seeing such a lovely smiling face (of then and now) amongst the words.

I’ve had a similar language experience here in the south of Spain, makes me think I should write about some of them myself. I describe my learning of the language like drowning, as to be honest it wasn’t pleasant and glad I’m past the initial pain.

You’ve described so well the meditative state of not understanding anything and being able to zone out, albeit fairly fluent now I still have to actively listen to conversations so I can go into this state whenever I need!

Thanks, Brent. Yes, life has been one adventure after another but traveling in the days before internet and extending my gap year in Europe to four decades are highlights!
